Mirrors double whatever they reflect. Vastu uses that idea to decide which walls should hold a mirror and which should not.
Hang mirrors on the north or east walls. Avoid mirrors on south and west walls, never let a mirror face the bed, and do not place one directly opposite the main door. Use square or rectangular, unbroken mirrors.

In Vastu, the north and east are the light, receiving directions — morning sun, water and the flow of opportunity. The south and west are heavy, stabilising zones. A mirror is thought to “expand” whatever zone it sits in: on a north or east wall it multiplies light and openness; on a south or west wall it is said to push energy away. This is why the rule of thumb across almost every Vastu school is mirrors on north or east walls.

Our bedroom Vastu guide explains that a mirror should not face the bed — especially not toward the feet — because it is said to disturb rest through the night. If your wardrobe has a mirrored door facing the bed, keep a curtain over it or turn the bed. Dressing tables with mirrors are best on the north or east wall of the bedroom.
